Children's Hope International, St. Louis MO; Grantwriting and Development Programs

Children's Hope International (CHI) is the fourth largest adoption agency worldwide. It currently has 25 offices nationally and internationally and is passionate about its mission of "Homes, Health and Hope for Children in Need." Over the last few years, it has expanded humanitarian aid programs by providing medical assistance, HIV/AIDS programs, food, housing and shelter to children and families internationally. Worked closely with the Foundation Department and wrote several successful international grants for humanitarian aid.

St. Louis Science Center, St. Louis MO; Development and Public Programs
(January 1999 - February 2004)

The St. Louis Science Center is one of the United State's top five hands-on science museums with the stated mission: "To stimulate interest in and understanding of science and technology throughout the community." Worked with development staff to cultivate large donors in the St. Louis area. Coordinated with Public Programs to deliver science education to St. Louis area schools. Supported day-to-day operations in all public areas, including "scientific demonstrations."

The Victim Center, Springfield MO; Executive Director

The Victim Center served over 1,000 victims of violent and sexual crimes in Southwest Missouri in 1998. Over 15,000 children and adults attended prevention education seminars, trainings and programs conducted by the center. Oversaw the complete operation of the agency. Supervised eleven person staff. Worked closely with a 28 member Board of Directors. Assisted with coordination of Victim Advocate Volunteers, who answer 24-hour hotline calls. Provided sound fiscal management of the $391,000 budget that included United Way funding and presentations, state grants submitted to the Department of Public Safety and Department of Health. Assisted volunteers and staff coordinate several fund-raising events. Coordinated public relations and media contacts. Collaborated with other area not-for-profits for larger community projects and events.

Girl Scouts/Dogwood Trails Council, Springfield MO; Community Development Director

Worked closely with the Executive Director, volunteers and donors successfully to procure $450,000 to build new Service Center, Camp Finbrooke Lodge, Pavilion and other buildings. Responsible for overseeing all business and individual donations, foundation solicitation, grant procurement and special event fund-raising programs. Increased annual grant donations from $5,000 to $130,000. Public relations responsibilities include press releases, newsletters, donor marketing proposals, photography, brochures and annual reports. Developed donor recognition program, donor marketing plan and Women of Distinction Event. Assessed council budget to determine projected contribution requirements. Researched and developed funding proposals for six area United Ways.
